Hi April, what do you do?
Manage events and communications for Minds@Work, a charity in the UK for better mental health in the workplace.
How did you get started with your business?
Minds@Work started as a movement to rid the workplace of the stigma of mental illness.
What tools do you use for your business?
Digital communications tools and live events venues.
What problem does Remo solve for you?
Remo allows us to engage speakers and audiences that are far away from our hub in London. Now our community can get around a table and work together, no matter where they are based.
Tell us about your business challenges *before* you started using Remo
Before Remo we could only reach audiences in London, now geography is no obstacle.
How did you try to solve your business challenges before you found Remo?
We used social media and email marketing to spread our own messages, but we didn’t have a tool that allowed people in our dispersed community to interact and solve problems together and support one another.
What was your main concern before using Remo and what put your fears to rest?
Speed of connectivity and ease of use were our main concerns, but we tested the product by attending one of Remo’s free events and we were immediately enchanted!
How would you describe Remo?
Remo fills a vital gap in the technology market – it gives people free will to move around a room and network with others of their choice in a way that’s human and natural.
What results have you had from using Remo?
We produced an event in September 2019, creating common ground for remote workers from all around the world to break out of their social isolation and talk about the unique mental health challenges that they face.
What are the top 3 benefits you have experienced since using Remo?
We can now reach a global community, scale our events to larger and more diverse audiences at a low cost. We can feature the most knowledgeable and talented speakers in the world, from the comfort of their living rooms. We can provide a space for our community to work together and support one another.
Minds@Work is a grassroots movement in the UK. Our purpose is to inspire and equip individuals to eradicate the stigma of mental illness and create workplaces that are life-enhancing. We stage free events to inspire, equip and fuel innovation through sharing and collaboration. In a landscape burgeoning with “experts” on mental health, we stand proudly as a community of “learners” in relentless pursuit of the most progressive ideas and solutions.
Minds@Work is a UK charity. We don’t sell products or services and so we are completely independent. We occupy the space of connector, curator, convener, collaborator and a catalyst for the difficult conversations on mental health topics that are still taboo. We rely completely on the generosity of our speakers, venue providers and corporate sponsors who enable us to stage these free events and create a space that is inclusive and accessible to all.
